Chaos

Chaos. The chaos blooms as does the uncertainty alongside the overwhelm. Anxiety rises and with it emotional distress. My heart is with you, and also with myself. This is a complex reality.

I'm sharing four recommendations that can help:

1. I invite you to count yellow cars (or another color), and give your mind a little mindful break.

2. Another helpful exercise from the Paula Method: sit or lie down, hands at your sides. Closing and opening your eyes counts as one. Do at least 250, and aim for more.

3. Hug whoever you can — as many long hugs as possible, at least 60 seconds each. The goal is to encourage the release of hormones that promote calm and well-being.

4. When the worry arises that everything is falling apart, look at any tree from your window — really attentively, for a while, several times a day. Notice that the tree stays in its place. And notice that it will still be there the next time you look.
