Why Therapy Is Actually Neurobiology

Simply because our experience is stored in the brain. Even the fact that the body remembers is a product of sensory memory preserved in connections between neurons and in the sensitivity that is created as a result in various brain regions.
Because it's possible to build additional psychological spaces through live (in-vivo) experiential work, helping to create new connections. This is one of the goals of imagination work in Schema Therapy.
Additionally, getting to know "your brain's functioning" (personal tendencies, developmental background, childhood emotional wounds, protective mechanisms) will give you information about yourself and your needs, and will help grow self-compassion through that understanding. Self-compassion is one of my central focuses in our shared work. Through radical acceptance (of reality), it's possible to grow self-love. And alongside self-love, compassion grows.
